Ali Shajarizadeh, PhD

Director of Health Economics

Ali brings over a decade of experience in health economics and pharmaceutical policy across government, academic, and consulting settings. His work focuses on cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses, economic evaluation of healthcare interventions, and the application of real-world evidence to support policy and access decisions.

Ali held senior roles within provincial health ministries, where he led the design and implementation of economic models to inform healthcare policy and market access strategies. His academic background includes postdoctoral research at the University of British Columbia and Wilfrid Laurier University, conducting research in causal inference, complex statistical analysis, and cost-effectiveness analysis.

He earned his PhD in Economics with a focus on Health Economics and Economic Evaluation from the University of Calgary. Ali has published in journals such as Health Economics, BMJ Global Health, and CMAJ, and is passionate about bridging research, policy, and practical impact to improve healthcare decision-making.
