Matt is a statistician specializing in survival analysis, longitudinal modeling, and machine learning, with a focus on biomedical and health data. He has led applied work with BC Children’s Hospital real-world data from juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients, including statistical analysis for a randomized controlled trial evaluating ondansetron to reduce methotrexate side effects, latent class modeling to characterize patient trajectories, and development of pediatric growth and improvement curves using random forests. With BC Cancer’s Oral Cancer Prevention Program, he worked with one of the world’s largest oral cancer datasets and analyzed time-to-event outcomes using Cox models to identify risk factors for progression. Matt holds a PhD in Statistics from Simon Fraser University.
